Don't Call on Me

Part Four: I know you'll find someone who'll play and love you

"Micky, man, are you okay?"

Micky took his hands away from his face. It was immediately evident that he'd been crying.

"What's wrong?"

"Nothing, Peter," Micky said sarcastically.

Before Peter could ask again, Autumn walked into the guys' guh-roovy pad. "Micky, what's wrong with you?"

"Rachel dumped me."

"Oh, I'm sorry." Autumn was sincere—but she didn't sound surprised.

"Yeah, thanks for all your support. I'm going for a walk." Micky and walked out the back door.

"I guess that's really eating him."

"It could be both Gia and Rachel—I don't think he ever got a chance to get over Gia."

"That's right—he started dating Rachel right after he and Gia broke up."

"Gia?"

"Micky?" Gia opened her hotel room door. "Are you okay?"

"Yeah, I'm okay." It was hard to tell that he'd been crying by now, he just didn't ahve his usual cheery disposition.

"Come in, come in." Gia stepped aside to admit Micky. "Do you wanna talk?"

"I just wanna come back."

A voice in her mind told her not to—he was only here because he was upset over Rachel. But another part of her wanted him back so bad that she ignored the voice.

"What did you say again?"

"I want to come back."

"To me? To what we had?"

Micky gave Gia a look she couldn't decipher. Gia caught him up in a warm hug and a passionate kiss. She ignored the fact that Micky obviously didn't return her feelings.

"Lael!"

"What?"

"Where are my credit cards?"

"Um . . . I don't know?"

"That don't make it, babe. What did you do with them?"

"Check your pocket."

Sure enough, there they were. Uh-oh—those paper-thin walls. Rachel could hear Autumn through the wall now that it was quiet in her own room.

"Would you cut it out, man? You're starting to scare me."

"Autumn?" Rachel called through the wall.

"Yeah?"

"Anything wrong?"

"Nah, just some stupid ghost story. I hate ghost stories!"

A thought occured to Lael—paper-thin walls . . . remember that for future reference—NO NIGHTS!

"Lael?"

"What?"

"Could you keep it down in the future? Remember that 305 and 301 can hear anything above conversational level."

"Sure, Rachel, what ever you want."

"Lael?"

"What?"

"Shut up."
