Good Clean Fun
Part X (I think ;) )
Micky walked in and said, "Hey! What's wrong?"
"Nothing," I said harshly.
"Did I do something wrong?" He asked.
"You have a girlfriend. Don't you dare try to act all innocent!" I yelled.
"Whoa! Wait a minute! Yes, I do have a girlfriend, but how did you know that?" He asked.
"Michael told me," I said.
"Oh, well that figures," he said.
"Don't flirt with me and act like you like me," I commanded.
"I was just flirting and I do like you," he said sweetly.
"Yeah, well I want you to like me without a girlfriend," I shouted.
"What? You're talking crazy! I like my girlfriend and I like you," he said.
"Sorry, no deal," I said as I was turning away from him.
"Have it your way," he said and then walked out.
I probably had blown it forever with him. But, I couldn't see him with his having a girlfriend. I'd disappoint myself and worst of all, Michael. This turned out to be a perfect first day! I got my composure back and went back out into the studio where everyone else was.
"Where have you been? We've been waiting for you," Michael said.
"Waiting for me, what for?" I asked.
"We're leaving to film at the country club," he said.
I just stood there still in outer space. Michael put his arm around me and said, "Come on, little britches. It's just your first day." We walked out to the van where everyone else was waiting. There were only two seats left, but not together. One seat was with Peter and the other was with Davy. I wanted to sit with Peter, but Michael beat me to that seat. So, I sat with Davy. We didn't say much, Davy and I. He just looked out the window as if he had the weight of the world on his shoulders. I tried to make conversation, but it went nowhere.
The van finally pulled up to the country club and everyone got out. The crew sat up the cameras and what-not while I helped everyone get their costumes and props together. I took notes when filming began. I had five pages when the day ended! Some scenes were easy to shoot, but some were almost impossible. Micky kept getting tickled during the scene where the guys are playing cards. That scene took forever!
When the day was over, we loaded everything back on to the van and readied ourself to leave. This time, I sat with Michael. He asked me a million questions!! He asked if I liked the show, the job, the people. I felt really good about the whole thing after talking to him. He just has that effect on people.
The van pulled into the studio about eight that evening. I'd fallen asleep on Michael. He woke me up saying, "Little britches, we're back at the studio." I opened my eyes and smiled at him. I was getting ready to help unload, but he said, "Don't worry about that, they can get it. Besides, Phyllis has dinner ready. I'm sure of that." So, I got my stuff out of his dressing room and was heading out the door when Peter stopped me.
"Hey! What are you doing tomorrow night?" He asked.
"Why? You wanna go out with me?" I said with a laugh.
"No. Davy and I had plans to go out to get to know one another better. But my friend from New York came in at the last moment. Would you like to double-date? I'll be with my friend and you'll be with Davy," he said with a reassuring smile.
'Oh no! Not Davy!' I thought. He really likes me, but he acted so weird today. But, Micky's going nowhere. So maybe I should go out with Davy.
"Sure, Peter. I'd love to!" I said.
"He'll be at Michael's house at 8:00 to pick you up, okay?"
"Okay," I said while waving to him.
