Good Clean Fun

Part XI

Micheal and I went home to a hot meal cooked by Phyllis. He had heard Peter asking me about the double-date with Davy. This became the topic of conversation at dinner.

"I think Davy is perfect for you-- so much better than Micky," Michael said.

"Please don't start," I begged.

"Oh now, little britches. I just want you to do the right thing," he said chuckling.

"I know that and I'm going to do the right thing," I said.

"Oh, are you seeing Davy?" Phyllis asked.

"I have a date with him tomorrow night," I said looking down in my plate.

Nothing more was said at dinner that night. After dinner I went up into my room. I turned on the light and opened the window. I thought, 'Micky, why can't you just dump your girlfriend and be with me? Would that be so hard? I like you so much.'

Just then I heard a knock at the door-- it was Michael. He opened the door a little and said, "Can I come in?"

"Sure," I said.

"Listen, I didn't mean anything at dinner, Cari," he said.

"Michael, you preach so much to me about Micky. I'm so tired of it! I'm not some little girl. I know that he has a girlfriend and I know that I can't have him. I'm not gonna be his 'other.' Okay?" I said with a stony stare.

He was definitely taken back. "I'm sorry Cari. I just was worried. I saw the way you looked at him and the way he looked at you. I just don't want you to get caught up in something way over your head."

I just stood there, saying nothing. He said, "I know that you don't like Davy and if you don't wanna go out with him, don't. I'll tell him for you."

"No," I said, "I need to get out, to stop thinking of Micky. I'll give Davy a chance."

Michael smiled and then left my room. I then laid down and evetually fell asleep.

The next day was a day off for me. The cast and crew was just having a reading and I really didn't need to be there. I had to watch little Christian while Phyllis ran errands that day.

The phone rang about two and it was Michael wanting to speak with Phyllis. I told him that she wasn't home. Then he gave the phone to Davy.

"Hello, Cari," he said softly.

"Hello," I said.

"I'll be arriving at seven to pick you up," he said.

"Ok, I'll be waiting," I said.

"I'm looking forward to it," he said.

"Me too," I said with a sigh.

We hung up the phone just when Phyllis got back. I told her that Michael called asking for her. They talked for what seemed like an eternity. I played with Christian for awhile and finally laid him down for a nap. By that time, it was five.

I laid out a nice seashell pink dress and white high heels. Phyllis helped me curl my hair and I wore it in a bubble-flip. I put on my make-up, but not too much-- Phyllis saw to that. By the time we finished, it was seven. Michael came in wanting dinner, so Phyllis whipped him up some. I just sat in my room thinking of Micky. I couldn't believe that I was all dolled-up to go out on a date with another guy and there I was thinking of Micky.

Just then, the doorbell rang.
