Good Clean Fun

Part VII

Michael went to answer the door. In walked a goofy- looking guy with a really bad haircut. Michael brought him over to me and introduced us.

"Micky Braddock, this is Cari Courson," he said.

"Well, my real last name is Dolenz. Braddock was just my stage name," said Micky.

I said as I extended my hand to shake his, "It's nice to meet you Micky."

We shook hands then the three of us sat down. Micky was so funny. He joked about everything. I caught myself hanging on his every word. Michael must have seen the stars in my eyes (even before Davy made them famous) for Micky. My thoughts suddenly turned from being infatuated with Michael to being totally enthrolled with Micky.

"So, Cari, Mike told me that you're going to be a student at UCLA this fall," said Micky.

"Yeah," I said with a sigh.

"I was a student there myself until I got the series," he said.

"Yeah," I said again with a sigh.

"Uh, Cari. Why don't you go see if Phyllis needs any help with Christian," Michael said.

"Yeah, " I sighed.

I went upstairs and ran right into the doorway. I was looking back at Micky. I asked Phyllis if she needed any help with Christian, but she didn't. She had already put him to bed. I was on my way back downstairs when I overheard Micky and Michael talking. I stopped at the top of the stairs.

"Wow! Where did you find that one?" Asked Micky.

"Oh, she's just here to babysit for us. And she's working on the show with us," said Mike.

"If I didn't have Linda, I would sure wanna take her out," Micky said.

"She's only seventeen, Micky," said Michael.

"When will she be eighteen?" Micky asked.

"I don't know! I only know that she's seventeen. You'd better leave her alone. Her ole man is a tough one. Her parents and she had dinner with us one night and man was that tough!"

"I'm only twenty. That's only two-and-a-half years difference," said Micky.

"But didn't you say you had a girlfriend?" Asked Michael.

"Oh, yeah. I did say that and yes, I do have a girlfriend," said Micky.

Ok, so he has a girlfriend. At least he's not married and has a kid. I was so happy. He noticed me! I couldn't believe it! I prayed right then and there that he and this Linda person would break up so that I could have him.

I came back downstairs, and Michael and Micky stopped talking. I asked if I was interrupting anything and they giggled and said no. The three of us talked until three that morning. We talked a little about one another. We talked about our families, what kind of music we liked, what our beliefs were-- just getting to know one another stuff in general.

Micky flirted with me a little. I could tell that he liked me, but Michael kept drawing his attention away from me and on to another topic. At three, Micky decided that it was time for him to leave.

"Well, it was nice meeting you, Cari," said Micky.

"It was nice to meet you too, Micky," I said.

He shook my hand because Michael cleared his throat at the moment he got really close to me. Micky said bye to Michael and turned and walked at the door.

I went to upstairs heading toward my room before Michael could say a word to me. But the next morning I'd catch it!
